First notice day

The first day on which the seller of a futures contract can give notice of its intent to deliver.

The first notice day varies depending on the contract and the market. It is generally around the beginning of the month of delivery, sometimes sooner. For example, for many agricultural futures, the first notice day is the last business day of the month preceding the delivery month.
